ABOUT PUERTO ESCONDIDO

Puerto Escondido is a town of about 30,000, located on the Pacific coast of southern Mexico. Puerto is a popular destination for the tourist that appreciates natural landscapes, and the convenience of a smaller town. Puerto is not built up with the large hotels and restaurants one finds in places such as Acapulco and Cancun. Yet, there is a variety of restaurants, shopping and services to meet the needs of the traveller.

Many come to Puerto Escondido for the surfing, as the beach at Zicatela is said to be one of the top 10 in the world. There are waves all year round, although the main surf season is from April to November.

Puerto Escondido has a tropical climate with the coolest months being December, January and February. The temperatures average 30 degrees, high temperatures are moderated by cool mountain breezes at night, and cool ocean breezes in the morning. Low and high temperatures are typically 18 C (64 F) and 45 C (113 F). The rainy season is from June to October.
