THINGS TO DO IN PUERTO ESCONDIDO

Surfing
Zicatela Beach has become famous world wide for its great surfing waves. Known as the Mexican Pipeline, it draws surfers from around the world, creating an international surf community. The best surfing is from April through November.

Lessons are available year round for those interested in trying a new sport or for intermediate surfers looking for new tips.

Trips are available to intermediate surfers that want to surf unpopulated pristine beaches outside of Puerto Escondido.
Sports fishing
Take guided fishing trips for sailfish, marlin, tuna, dorado.
Birding
Birding and Nature Tours are available on the ocean and around the lagoons. Visitors will see many of the hundreds of species of birds, as well as dolphins, crocodiles, turtles and iguanas.
Shopping
For produce, meats, fresh juices and quick meals, the local market, Mercado Benito Juarez, features a wide range of food and other products. Wednesday and Saturday are official market days for fresh produce.
Swimming/Snorkelling
The best swimming beaches are Carrizalillo, Manzanillo, Marinero and la Punta. There are many other beaches close to town that are beautiful for day trips, ask your hosts for more details.
